Brian Kingrey, a music teacher from Louisiana, is now a millionaire. His source of income: the MLB 2K11 baseball video game.

2K Sports offered $1 million to the first person to pitch a perfect game playing it, and Kingrey did it in fewer than two hours. He will be awarded the check this week.

Kingrey’€™s pitcher-of-choice was the Phillies’€™ Roy Halladay, who threw the 20th perfect game in MLB history on May 29, 2010. Halladay also threw the second no-hitter in postseason history on Oct. 6.

Kingrey chose the Astros as his opponent, whose lack of left-handed hitting Kingrey said made them most vulnerable to Halladay’€™s ‘€œreally mean slider.’€

Yahoo! Games blogger Chris Morris said Kingrey will meet the real Halladay later this week, then use the money to pay off various debts. Once debt-free, Kingrey said he plans to buy a full-size refrigerator.

Kingrey told Morris that he may play MLB 2K11 again at some point, he will first return to his favorite game, the online strategy game League of Legends.

Kingrey said he isn’€™t really a sports-game fan, but he enjoys competition and winning, and his wife encouraged him to participate.

“Two weeks before the competition started, my wife forced me to go get the game,’€ Kingrey said. ‘€œShe was like, ‘I don’t know why you’re not doing this.'”
