— A TV reporter in Houston interviewed a man on the street for a story on road rage last week and didn’t realize until the end of the interview the man was Adrian Peterson.

Peterson gave a general response to reporter Jon Donnelly’s road rage question and Donnelly had no idea who he was interviewing until he asked for the man’s name. When Peterson told him, Donnelly paused before saying, “Wait a minute…you’re not?” to which Peterson replied, “Yeah.”

The Vikings declined Peterson’s 2017 contract option the day this happened so it must have been a relief for Peterson when he realized this reporter just wanted to ask him about road rage.

— The MLB and MLBPA have announced rule changes for this baseball season that went into effect on Thursday.

The changes include an addition to Rule 5.07, which “formalizes an umpire interpretation and prohibits a pitcher from resetting his pivot foot or taking a second step toward home plate during his delivery. If the pitcher violates the rule with a runner on base, a balk should be called. If there are no runners, a violation should be considered an illegal pitch under Rule 6.02(b)” and a change to Rule 5.03 that states base coaches must “remain behind the line of the coach’s box closest to the plate and the front line parallel to the foul line prior to each pitch. A coach may leave the box to signal a player after a ball is put in play.”

Also, if a manager signals the home plate umpire for an intentional walk, the umpire will tell the batter to take first base. And field markers for positioning fielders are prohibited.

The player’s union did not agree to some pace-of-play rules, including pitch clocks and a limit on trips to the mound.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “We settled some points. Tried to wait to recover and how we were going to do it, maybe I could meet the team in Miami, give me a week to stay here and get healthy. He told me he wanted the chemistry of the team, he wanted everyone together from the first day. I said ‘Yeah, that’s fine. If you don’t find somebody, you can call me.’ I leave my door open to go but that’s his decision and I just have to get healthy.” — Hanley Ramirez, on the decision to not play him in the World Baseball Classic due to a stiff shoulder
