— Former Red Sox goofball Manny Ramirez recently signed a contract with Japan’s Kochi Fighting Dogs and it is loaded with perks.

His deal with the country’s independent baseball league includes his own hotel suite for away games, his own Mercedes with a personal driver, unlimited sushi and practices are optional.

He will wear No. 99 with simply “Manny” stitched on the back.

Ramirez last played professional baseball in 2014 for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs as a player-coach. He hasn’t played at the major league level since 2011.

— The father of UCLA basketball star Lonzo Ball is looking to cash in big time on his son’s talent.

LaVar Ball is trying to package his three sons in a shoe deal worth $1 billion. Lonzo’s two high schooler brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo are committed to also play for UCLA. LiAngelo will enter college next year while LaMelo still has two seasons left in high school.

“A billion dollars, it has to be there,” LaVar said. “That’s our number, a billion, straight out of the gate. And you don’t even have to give it to me all up front. Give us $100 million a year.”

Last month, LaVar said if Lonzo did not sign with Nike, Under Armour or Adidas when he enters the NBA, he will sign with the Big Baller Brand. LaVar was granted trademark rights the phrase last week to use on athletic apparel. His trademark on the logo is pending.

Lonzo is expected to be a top-three pick in the NBA draft in June.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I couldn’t be more thankful. To be able to play with someone that is going to be a Hall of Famer [Tom Brady], a guy who is so competitive, that is what you look forward to and I am just thankful for the opportunity and I can’t wait to get started.” — Brandin Cooks, on joining the Patriots after he was traded to the team on Friday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Bobby Jenks (35)
